Hello all, welcome to edition #5 of Art/ist Round-up.
My 5 discoveries this week, in no particular order, are:
‘Kermis’ by tormius
I love the flow, I love the forms, I love the colours, and I love the minimalist approach. Chefs Kiss 🤌‘A Hidden Story’ by Michelle Thompson
I’m a huge fan of Michelle’s work and it was only a matter of time before she appeared in this newsletter. I love how the abstract marks are paired with a central figure looking directly at the viewer. It makes you stop, focus, and examine the many details this piece of art has to offer.
This piece recently sold for 0.935 ETH and I’m not surprised, it’s a gem, from a truly talented artist.Generative Art by Bassil Taleb
I wanted to highlight Bassil here rather than an individual piece. The generative art he creates is a delight and always stops me mid-scroll. The looping animations are wonderful and his colour choices are always on point. Bravo!‘Abandoned by Disney V’ by Lucifuge
One of the things I love about Luciana’s art is the way she blends IRL elements with digital marks. It brings a richness to each piece and I love to zoom in, trying to decipher which marks are digital, and which are IRL. Another excellent work here and I’m sure there will be more to come.
This piece also includes a giclée print measuring 80cm x 60cm.Floating Matter by Alejandro Javaloyas
My final choice this week is an IRL exhibition from Alejandro. I’m a massive fan and have been lucky enough to collect a number of his pieces across multiple chains. When he shared news of his exhibition launching, I was really excited and couldn’t wait to see what he produced. Below is an excerpt from Fernando Gómez de la Cuesta curators’ statement:
”Floating Matter is a visual exploration that starts from a mass that is weightless and heavy at the same time, a foreign body that the artist inoculates in those liminal zones, in those spaces of uncertainty where perception loses its security, where the idea does not have a single definition, and beauty comes into contact with restlessness.”
I’d love it if you could check out my latest generative project ‘Sketchbook’ on Foundation.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s edition of Art/ist Round-up.
